My Story
To give you a glimpse into some context of the content on my site, I will attempt to summarize a bit of my story to help it all make more sense. (trigger warning, SA)
I grew up in small town USA (aka Bolivar, MO) and graduated high school in 2016. That fall, as a freshman at Missouri State University, I was raped and my world turned upside down. Following this traumatic assault, I switched colleges a few times, switched my major a few more, and tried my hand at a few different jobs. I experienced a slew of repercussions after my assault including PTSD, severe depression, extreme anxiety, a poor attempt at suicide and more. I dealt with the affects of this trauma for about 4 years then experienced a supernatural healing. I no longer suffer from the severe symptoms of this trauma I was once tormented by and I share a lot about this whole journey in my blog content as an effort to help other survivors of sexual assault know they aren't alone.
In the midst of trying to pick up the pieces of my life, figure out who I was, what I wanted and how to heal- I learned a lot. A lot of which I share here with you all. Of the many things I happened to discover were my passions for small business, marketing, and photography. These combined loves later lead me to working part time at a flower shop, falling in love with flowers and permanently intertwining them into my life. After managing the flower shop in Springfield for a while, I left to pursue my own entrepreneurial passions of marketing and assisting small business owners. During this time I was approached by a local business owner seeking my partnership in opening a new flower shop in a nearby town. I have recently chosen to walk away from this endeavor due to a combination of life circumstances, however I am grateful for the experience to add to my extremely odd and unique resume that perfectly describes me.
Late summer 2022 I met my amazing husband on Hinge. Almost a year to the date we met, August of '23, we were married. This part of my life has been a humorous miracle in and of itself, more on that to come. We have two dogs- Lucy is my 9 year old border collie, golden retriever mix and Violet is our 1 year old pyredoodle. They're simply the best and bring so much joy to our everyday.
