Cindi and Dave Lockhart began Curly Que, a bbq catering business in 2012. Originally specializing in wedding and event catering, Curly Que was ultimately begun with open hearts and minds for the future— and it’s a good thing. Quickly growing into much more than a small catering business, the Lockhart family decided to open a restaurant location in Bolivar, Missouri with the help of their son, Jake. In 2017 restaurant renovations began and doors opened soon after for Curly Que BBQ.

Curly Que is much more than a bbq restaurant and catering service. Owned and operated by Cindi, Dave and Jake Lockhart, the business isn’t just a family affair, but a passion. They take pride in their high quality products and strive daily to perfect their craft bbq. This hard work and high standard is evident in their well-earned ratings as one of Missouri’s top wedding caterers. Call Curly Que for event catering, stop in for daily lunch specials or plan a date for steak night on Friday or Saturday evenings.

As previously mentioned, Curly Que was started with open hearts for future plans. These plans have recently evolved to include some new avenues to pursue their passion of high quality meats and smoking. The Lockhart’s opened Cheese Hollow Market in October, next door to Curly Que, as a meat market and retail space. Offering fresh steaks, seasoned ribs, sliced deli meats and artisan cheeses, Cheese Hollow Market focuses on offering premium products at fair prices. Along with premium meat and cheese options, Cheese Hollow Market displays the unique work of several local vendors with products like hand crafted home decor, quilts, Myra purses, ladies’ accessories, home made dog treats and more. The Lockhart family takes pride in selecting special vendors who are passionate about their work and provide unique, premium products. Check out Cheese Hollow Market, next door to Curly Que, Wednesday-Saturday from 11-6.

In addition to the opening of Cheese Hollow Market, another exciting adventure is on the horizon for the Lockhart family. Son and co-owner, Jake, recently partnered with a longtime friend, Jacob Mills, to branch out and open a “new school bbq” smoking trailer. This new path they are seeking is called Millhart. While it is still in the works, Jake and Jacob hope to move their new bbq business to Kansas City to be engaged in the unique bbq culture the area offers. The proud owners of Millhart are excited to take their craft to the next level and continue perfecting their passion of smoking meats.
